Welcome to Haymaker Farm...

"Tucked in for the evening"

Many times we will foal out the recipient mare(s) for our clients as they may not have the time, facility and/or comfort level to do that themselves. We currently monitor the mares using an internet camera and will also be adding a Foalert system this spring. The recipient mares that foal at Haymaker Farm are brought into the maternity pens approximately 3-4 weeks prior to their due date and are monitored 24 hours until they foal. The foalings are attended and the foals are given an initial exam at birth and then have their IgG status checked at 24 hours of age. Should a foal have a partial or complete failure of passive transfer, a plasma transfusion is then given and they remain in the maternity area until 3 weeks of age for monitoring.
